Today is International Pillow Fight Day!

It’s that time of year again, where New Yorkers grab a friend and a pillow and flock to Union Square where a full out pillow brawl ensues.

If you find yourself sitting around today with nothing to do, the pillow fight is definitely worth a trip downtown. The event, sponsered by Newmindspace, an interactive public art group based in New York and Toronto, draws hundreds of New Yorkers every year.

Even cooler, similar activities are planned in over 150 cities across the globe.

The pillow fight starts today, Saturday, at 3 p.m., at 14th Street and Broadway, and is free of charge. Make sure to check out the rules at the events website…because every good pillow fight needs some boundaries.

In honor of its fifth anniversary, Newmindspace will also hold an afterparty tonight at The Bell House (149 Seventh Street, Gowanus, Brooklyn). Doors open at 10 pm; cost is $15.
