Rose Hill Student Dies Suddenly

The university has sent out word that Patrick Rubin, Fordham College at Rose Hill ’10, died on Friday at Columbia University Medical Center from a “sudden illness”.

Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham University, offered his condolences on behalf of the university community on Rubin’s death just days shy of his graduation. “I cannot begin to fathom the grief his family, classmates and the faculty of Fordham College at Rose Hill must feel at his loss; a grief intensified, perhaps, in losing him at what would have been one of the milestones of Patrick’s young life. Today our hearts and prayers are with Patrick’s family, friends and loved ones,” he said in an issued statement.

Any students seeking assistance are encouraged to call Campus Ministry at (212) 636-6267, Counseling and Psychological Services at (212) 636-6225, or their respective residential life staff members. Faculty and staff in need should call Christopher Rodgers, dean of students at Rose Hill, at (718) 817-4755. Fordham’s Safety and Security Department is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at (212) 636-7111.

At this time, funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. [Update: funeral arrangements can be found here.]
