Fashion Week Kicks Off with a Bang, Just Next Door!

It’s finally the best time of year, right here in New York City: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! And this year, many Fordham College at Lincoln Center students are especially privileged to have these festivities taking place literally right next door. Throughout the week, I will be posting updates on the shows and events that are going on, right here on the Observatory! Keep your eyes peeled, there might even be some celeb photos!

Last night was the kick-off fashion show, sponsored by Fashion’s Night Out. (For those of you who are unfamiliar with Fashion’s Night Out, it’s a five-borough retail event geared towards motivating consumers to find fun in shopping, after the recent economic downturn.) The show was one of the biggest fashion shows in history, featuring a large array clothing brands from Prada to Gap. People gathered in Lincoln Center to catch a glimpse of celebrities such as Leighton Meester, Blake Lively and Ashley Tisdale, as well as to see rapper Pharell Williams’ performance.

For those of you who would like to get in on all the glitz and glam, I highly suggest getting dressed up in your best outfit and heading next door sometime this week.  If you’re lucky–like I was–maybe you’ll even get photographed for a magazine! And make sure to go out for Fashion’s Night Out, which takes place tonight in stores everywhere, because there’s going to be tons of great things going on, and you’re bound to run into some cool people.
