Bis.Co.Latte: A Sugary Oasis in the Heart of Hell’s Kitchen

Do crowded Starbucks and the mobs of tourists at Crumbs and Magnolias prevent you from actually enjoying your daily indulgence? Leave the touristy hot spots to out-of-staters with matching New York City hoodies, because the home of hand made biscotti is just a quick walk away from FCLC. On 667 10th Avenue at West 47th Street lies a friendly, sweet-smelling European café called Bis.Co.Latte.

If the neon lighting, marble tables, and eclectic music aren’t enough to draw you in, the shop carries more than 60 varieties of biscotti, including Cherry Apricot, Vanilla Pudding, and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Concerned with the way you’ve been eating lately (no, you can’t call Raisinets a healthy snack because they contain raisins!)? Biscotti is a great alternative to a slice of cake or cookies: they contain nutrients and complex carbohydrates. And all of the café’s treats are baked with no preservatives and there are multi-grain, vegan, gluten free, and sugar free options.

If you’re not in the mood for this crunchy sweet treat, it’s no problem! The café also sells muffins, scones, cupcakes, and brownies, along with yogurt, homemade soups, and hot chocolate. Biscotti are $1.15 each and other baked goods range from $1.85 to $2.50 each. A bowl of soup, served with a roll, is $7.50 and yogurt cups range from $4.25 to $7.75. Drinks range from $2.00 to $5.00.

Bogged down by never ending assignments? You can place an order on their website (www.biscolatte.com) or call (212) 581-3900. Bis.Co.Latte is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 7pm; Saturday, 9am to 7pm; and Sunday, 9am to 6pm. For a complete menu and list of prices, head over to their site. Can’t you just smell the intoxicating aromas of baked goods right now? I know I can.
