Holiday Happenings At Magnolia Bakery

Temperatures are steadily dropping, Central Park’s lush greens have transformed into hues of browns and oranges, and a distinct spirit signaling the start of the holiday season is in the air.

How can a foodie celebrate in the greatest city in the world? With holiday-inspired sweets, of course!

Magnolia Bakery (http://www.magnoliabakery.com/), which has locations throughout the city, boasts a few delicious delights specially created to induce some holiday cheer. So take a library break and indulge before these treats disappear with the season.

Pumpkin pecan, caramel, and classic fall-colored butter cream cupcakes will have you wishing for a never-ending autumn. This seasonal twist on the bakery’s classic cupcakes will give you a sugar rush you can justify; after all, who wouldn’t stuff herself with goodies and a cup of hot coca to survive those bitter chills.

Can’t stand dessert bland? Add a pinch of spice to your life with Magnolia’s new fall-inspired take on a childhood classic. The Pumpkin Spice Whoopie Pie features two moist pumpkin spice cakes hugging a rich maple cream cheese icing. Your only regret will be that they weren’t created when your parents still footed the bill. Whoopie pies are $2.50 each and are available at all Magnolia Bakery locations.

Kick up your heels with a special Rockette-themed Red Velvet cupcake, complete with a fully costumed image of a Rockette on a creamy chocolate wafer. And if you feel inspired by the bakery’s holiday decorations, which feature memorable Rockette costumes straight from the archives, don’t fret over breaking the bank to see the show. Everyone who buys this soft and tasty treat will receive a discount voucher to the lively Radio City performance. Cupcakes are $3.25 each and are sold exclusively at Magnolia’s Rockefeller Center location at 1240 Ave of the Americas–call (212) 767-1123–until December 30th.

Make your commute so much sweeter with Magnolia’s latest offering: the Train Set. A dozen bite-sized chocolate and vanilla minis topped with sugary train cars will make you the happiest person on the platform. The set is available only at the bakery’s Grand Central location at 42nd St at Park Ave (212-682-3588) through the end of December.

Visit the bakery’s Web site (http://www.magnoliabakery.com/find_us_new_york.php) for a complete list of hours, prices, and menus. Then pull on those walking boots and grab a delicious sweet treat!
