It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas in the Neighborhood!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Especially since the Lincoln Square Christmas tree has officially arrived! Although smaller in stature than the 74-foot tall Rockefeller Center tree, the 27-foot balsam fir tree was welcomed to Dante Park (63rd and Broadway- right across from PJ Clarke’s) on Tuesday morning.

According to DNAinfo, the first Christmas tree was erected three years ago by the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID), after Lincoln Center canceled their annual tree . Executive Director of Lincoln Square BID, Monica Blum, said ever since, “It has become a tradition now, so it’s nice.”

Next Monday, November 29th, the tree will finally be lit to kick off the 11th Annual Winter’s Eve celebration – an event which is surely not to be missed! The event starts with the tree lighting at 5:30 (in rain, snow or shine!) with ABC’s Sade Baderinwa. Throughout the rest of the evening, there will be fun events, such as live music and food tastings from local restaurants such as A Voce, Landmarc, Rosa Mexicano and Sushi A-Go-Go (just to name a few!) Each sampling ranges from $1-$4, and portions of the proceeds go to City Harvest. This fun event is only a week away, so mark your calendars now (and save your appetite!)
