Brian Williams, anchor of NBC Nightly News, will give Fordham’s 166th commencement speech on May 21, according to an announcement from Fordham’s eNewsroom.

During his time as anchor on television’s most-watched newscast, Williams has been critically praised for his extensive reporting on Hurricane Katrina and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2007, he was listed among Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World.”

Williams will be the second NBC Nightly News anchor to deliver Fordham’s commencement speech. In 2009, his predecessor, Tom Brokaw, addressed the university’s 164th graduating class.
